  Great old pub with an authentic atmosphere, cozy venue with a large variety of local and imported options on beers/wines.
  The food is a good serve but the taste is typical pub.
  Hosts live music and local artists.

  On the evening we ate there, it seemed that there was only one woman doing the job of several. She took our food and drink orders, checked people into their rooms, served at the bar and helped deliver the meals too. She did an amazing job. The food was tasty and the wine menu extensive. An enjoyable evening.

  Not even thinking about staying here.
  I was just visiting the town for a weekend with my relatives.
  I understand that respect is a main thing in such a historic place that's why I'm warning the future visitors to make sure you're asking permission to take a picture inside of the premises if you don't want to be mistreated by the staff of this beautiful building.
  
  My apologies to them if there was a sign and I missed it.

  We went here as the outside had an awesome old world look. We had duck spring rolls for starter, roasted duck leg and baked blue cheese gnocchi for mains and rhubarb creme brulee and bread and butter pudding for dessert. The food was delicious, and the atmostphere great. It had a good English pub feel inside with dark timbers and log fire crackling away. The owner was a dynamo, he took orders, seated guests, served bar, ran drink service and ran food, all on his own! The bloke needs a medal. Food was lovely. Would definitely go again

  Excellent old pub at realistic prices. The restaurant and the bar have fire places, in winter, very handy.
